Supported by the idea of creating a “warm hug” for children and their families, the multidisciplinary team offers 24/7 hours of planned and emergency short-term stays; pain and symptom management; end-of-life care; and psychosocial support programmes for the whole family. With strong local, national and international connections with palliative services specialising in paediatrics, Hummingbird House is an integrated communal service offering flexible care centred on children and families. As trade unionists, you have seen first-hand how difficult it can be to negotiate with Blue Care for better wages and conditions. Not only has Blue Care management refused to enter into negotiations for a new collective agreement for you, but it has also recently lowered the conditions of your fellow home carers and made things just as difficult for your fellow caregivers. We have just obtained correspondence from Blue Care to announce that, for the third year in a row, they will NOT negotiate a new agreement with you! You can read the letter here. You have been very patient in giving management the time they have asked for, now it is time to build strength in your workplace by being a union. Your union office continues to look at other available industrial options. We will keep you informed of what we discover. Let`s make Blue Care a better place to work! Ask your colleagues to join you here. The challenges that Blue Care workers have faced over the past three years in terms of precarious wages and conditions are just one of the reasons why unions across the country have worked to “Change the Rules.” .
